Birmingham MI – 9 seconds remained on the clock in a close battle between Kingswood and Birmingham in a cross-town lacrosse showdown.  The time was stopped for a penalty, and sophomore Coco Jelenic had the ball.

Play began, and Jelenic fired a shot that hit the post.  It looked like overtime was imminent – but Jelenic would not be denied.  She got her own rebound and fought back to a shooting spot.  She launched the ball from her stick – the horn sounded as the ball was in flight.   It hit the back of the net and started the celebration on the field and in the stands.  This was Coco’s 6th goal of the night.

Other Birmingham goals were scored by senior Caitlin O’Guin who had 4 goals on the night and senior Hadley Kostello who had two.

Birmingham hosts Stoney Creek on Thursday at Seaholm’s Maple Field.

  1. This game was so fun. Coco scored at the end of the first half in just about the same way. I love the way the girls maintained their composure and got the job done. Congrats to coach Waits and coach Miodonski and the entire team.
