Maples Show Fight Until the Final Out
The Seaholm Maples wrapped up their 2026 season on Saturday, battling until the final out against a talented Brother Rice squad.
Offensively, the Maples collected hits from Ian Evert, Casey Goetz, Brandon Gottesman, Patrick Hughes, and Jack Zimmer. Gottesman provided the biggest offensive contribution, driving in two runs for Seaholm.
On the mound, Patrick Hughes got the start and worked 3.0 innings, striking out two batters while throwing 72 pitches, 43 for strikes. Ethan DeWolfe followed with 2.1 innings of relief, throwing 51 pitches, 34 for strikes, and Casey Goetz closed out the game, recording the final two outs while allowing just one hit and no runs. Goetz threw 19 pitches, nine for strikes, and helped the Maples finish the game with determination.
The game marked the end of a season that featured strong leadership, memorable performances, and contributions throughout the roster. From veterans leading the way to younger players stepping into larger roles, the Maples built on the program’s tradition of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance.
