Focused and Determined – Maples with a Big Win
Seaholm Varsity Maples leaned on dominant pitching and strong defense Tuesday night in a 2-0 victory over North Farmington at Warrior Park.
Patrick Hughes set the tone on the mound, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four. Ian Evert came in to finish the shutout, recording the game’s final out by strikeout.
The Maples broke through in the fifth inning. Casey Goetz delivered an RBI single down the left field line to score the first run of the game (video below), and Hughes later added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0.
Hughes also led the offense from the leadoff spot with two hits, while Liam McDonald added two stolen bases. Defensively, Seaholm turned two double plays to back up another strong pitching performance.
