Never Out Of It: Seaholm Completes Incredible Comeback Victory
Seaholm Varsity Maples pulled off an incredible comeback Saturday, rallying from an 11-0 deficit to earn a thrilling 14-11 victory behind a relentless offensive attack.
The Maples exploded for 17 hits in the win and took control with a six-run fifth inning. Patrick Hughes delivered one of the biggest moments of the game with a go-ahead two-run triple during the rally.
Seaholm’s offense caught fire throughout the lineup. Hughes led the charge from the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5 at the plate. Nick Davis drove in three runs, while Liam McDonald, Aaron Van De Mark, and Dylan Furlani each delivered key extra-base hits during the comeback effort.
Ian Evert, Keegan Jordan, Brandon Gottesman, Jack Zimmer, and McDonald all recorded multiple hits as the Maples continued to pressure the defense inning after inning.
After a difficult opening inning, Casey Goetz steadied the game in relief, pitching 6 2/3 strong innings while allowing just two runs and striking out three to help Seaholm complete the turnaround.
The Maples also turned a double play defensively and carried the momentum through the final innings to secure the comeback victory.
