Seaholm Flex Program- Senior Big Boards

Congratulations to Seaholm’s Flex Program and the Class of 2026 on the successful completion of their Big Board Presentations!

Big Boards is the culmination of a year of research for our senior class each year. The process begins with a question which students formulate in May of the junior year. They dedicate time over the summer to research, and come back to school ready to write a research paper. The paper, 20 pages in length, is due around winter break each year. After the paper is submitted, the process of turning the paper into a 20 minute presentation begins, along with the planning and execution of a related service project.

This year’s topics were compelling and varied, ranging from heavy element synthesis, generational trauma, the psychology behind cult membership, and the positive impact that physical fitness can have on mental health.

The senior research experience has been a part of the Flex program since the program’s inception in 1964. Flex is an honors interdisciplinary program that melds English, Social Studies, humanities, leadership, and community.
