Teacher Appreciation Night
Like many Seaholm programs, boys basketball hosts an annual teacher appreciation game. This home match-up against Troy High set the perfect backdrop. Teacher apprciation night allows each varsity player to honor and celebrate one Seaholm teacher who has had a profound impact on their high school journey.
Congratulations to each of these dedicated teachers and mentors who inspire and lead.
William Fedor honored Mr. DeWald, his teacher and football coach. Will’s favorite class memory is talking about the past teams in the concession room during overnight camp. Mr. DeWald inspires Will to “be a dude” and earn everything that comes to him.
Everett Wertz and Hudson Schossau honored Mr. Carleton, their World War 2 history teacher. Everett enjoys the class projects and being part of a blended class. He inspires Everett to work hard and be on the grind. Hudson enjoyed learning about the Battle of Verdun.
James Liebler honored Mrs.Vanderveen, his school counselor. James said, “She is always very helpful and kind. She has my best interest in mind. She supports me reaching my academic goals. She inspires me by being available to help and guide others.”
Jack Barlage honored Mr. Jeffrey Gonzales, his English teacher. Jack enjoys the warm-ups they do before class starts. Mr. Gonzales helps Jack think outside of the box when it comes to writing.
Lincoln Bell honored his math teacher, Mr. Thayer. Lincoln’s favorite part of class was the Softball Launcher project. Mr. Thayer inspires Lincoln by being a great guy!
Zack Kozouz honored Mr. Claerr, his Environmental Science teacher. Zack enjoys the field trips he takes with the class. Zack appreciates the big energy Mr. Claerr brings to class every day.
Bryan Pohl honored Mr. Yusko, his AP computer science, programming and building wealth teacher. Bryan appreciates applying the valuable problem solving and financial lessons Mr. Yusko teaches him in real life. Brian said, “He inspires me with his consistency, Mr. Yusko shows up every day always ready to teach us and you can tell he really cares.”
Liam Kerr honored Mr. Hopper, his AP Psych and Econ teacher. His favorite memory was making inventions. Liam appreciates Mr. Hopper showing up every day in a great mood!
Drew Heckman honored Mr. Caughell who teaches AP Statistics. “Mr. Caughell inspires me by taking a challenging subject and teaches it in a way that makes it understandable and interesting. He has an energetic approach that makes a connection with his students. It is clear that he really enjoys teaching, cares about his class and genuinely wants to see his students succeed. He inspires me to be the best version of myself every day in class.”
Brody Feldmaier honored Mrs. Rahm, World and US History teacher. His favorite memory was always talking about different sporting stories. “She inspired me because she truly cared about whether students understand the content. She made history interesting and relatable, which made me want to pay attention and do well,” said Brody.
Aiden Pero honored Mr. Barber, his Integrated 3 Math teacher. His favorite part of class was his trivia games every holiday. Aiden said, “he inspired me to think outside the box and heightened my math ability.”
Patrick Hughes honored Mrs. Radin who teaches Principles of Marketing. Patrick said, “The Food Truck final was a great experience. Mrs. Radin is inspiring with her positive attitude towards me and making the class very fun.
Abhi Thota honored Mr. Pavloff who teaches Psychology and World History. “I enjoy collaborating with peers during these classes. Mr. Pavloff inspires me through how genuine and real he is as a teacher.”
John Hofley honored Mrs. McDonald who teaches Chemistry. John said, “My favorite class memory is hitting piñatas while blindfolded. She inspires me to work hard and not give up even when school is challenging.”

Congratulations to these teachers and and our other amazing faculty members. After this ceremony the celebration continued as the Maples defeated Troy 52-46 to win their 5th straight game!
